GDI’s Oliver Bakewell is a key member of the Research and Evidence Facility on Migration in the Horn of Africa – and features in a new video outlining the project:

The project focuses on a range of policy relevant migration issues in the Horn of Africa, including the:

  • drivers of migration.
  • dynamics of cross-border economies and centre/periphery relations.
  • government migration management systems and social service provision.
  • drivers of radicalism and violent extremism.
  • opportunities for strengthening resilience.

As the video demonstrates, the project has been particularly effective at translating academic knowledge into actionable policy insights. We are looking forward to working closely with the Research and Evidence Facility as it develops the next stage of its research agenda.
