The Chronic Poverty Advisory Network has launched its new Chronic Poverty Report on Growth, which also includes a briefing note on ‘pathways to sustained poverty reduction: balancing growth from above and below’
The Chronic Poverty Advisory Network was originally the Chronic Poverty Research Centre (CPRC) which was based at The University of Manchester. The CPRC worked to assess and explain the extent and nature of chronic poverty in developing countries.
The Chronic Poverty Report on Growth aims to put in front of economic policymakers in developing countries and international agencies evidence about the type of growth and the policies and interventions that will best allow the poor to escape poverty and stay out of it through growth. The report focuses on the need to balance growth from above with the growth from below which most poor people rely on to get out of and stay out poverty.
